Home Theater

People are going to the movies less and watching movies at home more. One of the ideas of that is, they were doing that in a home theater. Everyone is looking to duplicate the incredible sound you hear in the movie theater.

When making a home theater, I thought most people start with the TV. But I have learned that you should start with the sound system. Don’t worry about the technical specifications. Just listen to how it sounds in the store. Most people won’t be able to discern differences in quality between a good, modestly priced system and a super-expensive one.

You also have to be mindful of the room. A den usually works best. Most movie theaters are rectangular, because that’s the best for the acoustics. It would be hard to create a home theater in a very open room. You can have a fantastic audio-video system in your home without spending a fortune if somebody at home knows how to set up the right equipment.

Enhance the Mood with Magical Table Lamps

No matter what size any particular room in your home is, you can create a wonderful mood or atmosphere with clever lighting, and table lamps are a simple, but effective way to achieve this. At Geoffrey Harris, a specialist in trend setting contemporary lighting, you can choose from some of the most exciting table lamps to make a dramatic statement, or to simply enhance the feel of a room.

The Tatou lamp, one of the newest additions, is equally as stunning as the rest of the collection. Designed in 2012 by Patricia Urquiola for Flos spa, Tatou means 'armadillo' in French and that's where the inspiration for the superb shade design came from. The way the clever lattice design diffuses light into the room makes it an ideal choice for a romantic bedroom or a relaxing lounge.
I also adore the Mini Glo-Ball T table light, designed in 2003. Surely a classic by now, the simple translucent globe is perfect anywhere, on a shelf, an end table or even as bedside lamps. It can be a really great focal point placed at floor level, where it gives a beautiful, calm radiance. Click here to explore the range.

Desk lighting is a must in most homes, as well as in the office these days. More of us spend extended periods online, and as always, students and children need good lighting to study or do homework. The classic Anglepoise lamp is one of the best selling items both online and in the Geoffrey Harris shop. A real design classic, it's a name that everyone has heard of. Available in black, white, red, blue or silver, the relaunched 1227 original is an instantly recognisable addition to any desk, workspace or reading area. Newer lamps in the range, such as the Type 75 and the 75 Mini, still retain all of the features we know and love so well, particularly the superior illumination provided by the unique shade and angled design.

Whether you're looking for a table lamp or a desk lamp, there's sure to be one in this exceptional and incomparable collection that's just right for you.

Sizing Down the Clutter

The fall season is the perfect time to begin clearing out the clutter from your home in order to prepare for the upcoming holidays. When a home is no longer cluttered, the entire family benefits from the relaxation that comes from spending time in an organized space. If you are looking forward to clearing out the clutter as the weather turns cooler, then you will be interested in the following ideas to help get you started:

Getting Started Tackling the clutter can be overwhelming at first. For this reason, it is important to begin by working on only one room at a time. Most homes have specific areas that seem to attract clutter. These areas, such as closets and desks, should be the first area to begin working on. It can also be helpful to begin by separating your belongings according to your desire to keep them, donate them or throw them away. Items that will be sold or donated should be placed in a convenient location so that you can prepare for your garage sale.

Hold a Garage Sale A garage sale is essential for removing items from the home while also offering an opportunity to make a little money. In order to achieve maximum sales, be sure to set up the garage sale so that it is organized and well-advertised. This will ensure that your sale will have a steady stream of customers who can find what they need. Then, any leftover items can either be placed in storage or donated to a charity that can ensure that each item will be connected to someone who needs it.

Storage Solutions Once the household items have been pared down to the essentials, then you will need to find an affordable storage solution where seasonal items, extra furniture and other goods can be safely and securely stored. One of the best options for temporary storage is special containers and trailers such as those that can be found at eagleleasing.com. These types of storage are not only safe and secure, but they are also mobile enough to be moved to a new location if needed. When choosing to reduce the clutter in a home, it is important to start the cleaning process with a clearly defined plan. This plan should include ideas for what will be done with household items at the end of the cleaning process. Holding a garage sale and finding affordable storage solutions are two of the best ways to handle clutter that needs a new home.

What's Your Home Style?

When decorating a home, a person must find a way to balance their personal style with the need to include the necessities for comfortable living. Whether a person is decorating a new home or is considering a completely new decorating scheme, they will need to take into consideration the balance of current trends with classic pieces. Additionally, they will need to ensure that each area of the home complements the other so that the overall look will be organized. Therefore, the following ideas are offered in order to help a person to get started on defining their style while decorating their home:

Personality and Tone
One of the first things that a person will need to do is make sure that they have selected accessories and furniture that reflect their personality. For example, a person who prefers a modern look will need to select furniture and accessories that show off a sleek design. Additionally, the color scheme of the home will be a defining factor in the overall look. Therefore, each new item should be chosen in colors and shades that will complement the rest of the room.

Quality and Durability
Once a person has created their decorating plan, they will need to find items that are high quality and will last a long time. This is especially important for items that will receive frequent use such as those that are found in the bedroom or kitchen. Therefore, it can be helpful to search for items through a reputable place such as the Bed Bath Store. Additionally, each item should be checked to make sure that it is crafted by using the best materials and techniques. When a person invests in quality, then it will show in their final decor. k

Finding Inspiration
Sometimes, it can be challenging to create an entirely new decorating scheme. This is especially true when a person would like to include a few trendy elements in order to create a modern look. Many people find that they can discover inspiration through browsing magazines, checking out a bed bath store or by looking at other people’s houses. In order to keep their ideas organized, many people create a scrapbook that can be referred to throughout the decorating process. When planning a decorating scheme, it is important to include elements that highlight a person’s interests and hobbies. By creating a plan that pulls together complementary colors, accessories and other decorations, a person can take their inspiration to the next level by decorating their home in a way that will be aesthetically pleasing to them and their guests.

Invest in Quality Tools

If you like the idea to embark in different home projects every few weeks then you may have accumulated a number of tools in your own workshop. Keeping all your tools and resources organized can help you stay focused on the tasks that you need to do. There is a lesser risk of having any accidents if you keep all your tools in their proper places.

When you're looking up for a great e-retailer to shop for tools such as torque screwdrivers, you need to first make a list of the specific tools that you need. You may have thoughts that it be overwhelming with the choices that are available to you and having a list keeps you stay focused on buying only those that are on your list and yes, it is. You just have to make sure to invest in quality tools that are sure to last a long time. The price of the tool should not be your primary consideration. You should focus more on the quality of the tools because you will only end up spending a lot on money because the cheap tools you bought were damaged easily. You will also get huge savings on your purchases if you use coupons that most retailers and manufacturers offer. Be updated on when they will have sales so that you can avail of the tools you need at discounted rates. So happy project working!

Looking for the Perfect House

House hunting can be tiring and time-consuming but it will all be worth it in the end. Especially after you moved in and found that you simply have everything that you need in that property and can only send your gratitude and thank to anyone who made your move possible, yes, even to mortgages for contractors who funded the construction of your brand new house!

Hunting for a new house to rent or lease, or if you have the financial option, buy, can be quite a daunting task and can really take its toll on you, especially if you have a regular 9-5 job or is a full-time mother with children needing your constant guidance and attention 24/7. Scouting for prospective properties require you to be physically present in the premises thereby requiring you to give off a portion of your already-divided-into-several-parts time of day just so you will be sure to buy the best option you possibly have. It is not a task you can delegate to your sister or your parents or someone who is close to you, as you have to be the one to see it for yourself to check whether the specifications, amenities and features of that particular property will suit you and your family and your lifestyle the best.

Home Improvement Idea

It is either by letting other person(s) do the work in improving our home (rented home, own home, or alike) or the do-it-yourself way, the fact is that it is going to have the necessary repair and maintenance. Okay, even the luxe way of improving as well. I like doing the D-I-Y. And I can see there are many people here in USA does it, the D-I-Y way. It saves money especially if using coupons like lowe's coupons resources in the process. It is like hitting the bird in two effects. :-) I don't know if you get what I mean but for sure using coupon and the do-it-yourself method of home improvement does catch you up.

Do you also does it? How do you like it? How do you like saving bucks out of such?

Meathead Movers is a dynamic enterprise founded by the Steed Brothers, Aaron and Evan in 1997. Their unique enterprise started when they helped a friend’s parents to move. A New LCD TV for Me

New apartment abode, new television, or is that so? I have several reasons why. And DH also have several reasonable reasons but am weighing it, mine is high, his is lightweight. Still I have to bug him my reasons and it took days to have such. Okay, it was an advance anniversary gift. ;-) I said "for me" because it is me who basically uses it. He won't watch TV in the living room but on our bedroom. And once he's home, mostly his decisions on channels/programs should have to follow and I don't have a problem with that  because I also have small old TV. But this time, I want it new. And I could also use it even when we're in the Philippines. He said, it's worthless shipping it. It might break. I uses it here as a TV and possibly as a computer desktop monitor because we have two extra hard drive. Ah, am helping him always on his computer so maybe that's one of the reasons why he bought me such. :-) And I couldn't be happier for my DVD marathon, karaoke and for PC purposes. :-) Just a simple thoughts of happiness. Ha! :-)

My Sixteenth Birthday Gift Was The Bee Gees

(Thanks for the guest post by Stanton Johnston)

Mind you, my mother wasn't into rock music. She grew up in the fifties to Buddy Holly and watched a lot of Dick Clarkon Saturday afternoons. She plugged her ears when I morphed from Donny Osmond Michael Jackson and on into disco. However, she bought a precious gift for me when I turned sixteen: tickets to see the Bee Gees. I had all their albums up to that time, heard their songs on the radio, but wanted to see them in concert, so we set the home security alarm from security choice and went to Nashville to see them.

Unfortunately, we were pretty far away from the stage, but could hear everything quite well. My mother, brother and I sat in awe as the guys took the stage and began to play. Having been previously acquainted with screaming girls at Donny Osmond concerts, I was amazed at a crowd that sat and listened respectfully to the most awesome music ever. When they sang "Odessa," a song I hadn't previously heard, I fell even deeper in love with their music. They sang all the great songs, my favorite of which was Lonely Days and "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart."

My poor mother, who was into country music, sat through that show in as much awe as I did. She like their music as much as I did.

Will Be Moving Soon!

Ah, hopefully really! I want to move before my tummy become very big. It was such long time already I wanted to move in. But due to circumstances that cannot be avoided (hubby is expecting something of this address to be mailed such and no other way like telling that people/company) and I understand. This time, I really want it! He even said it doesn't matter if the rent is pretty more than standard but the moving trouble does matter unless if I really, really want it. And I said yes, I said " I really, really want it! " . It is not only for me but for my baby soon. I do not like here in upstairs anymore. It's not easy to go down and up especially if the baby is here already. And the husband works. Let's say I wanted to go down or just walk with the stroller, can you imagine I am with the baby and stroller too whilst in the stairways?! Ah, I cannot imagine that! And also I want a new place aside from we can save when we move-in because the other bedroom has no use, so we have to transfer to a one-bedroom, one bathroom apartment since after a couple of months after I give birth, we will transfer to my birth country already for good (hopefully). And am glad DH already make an effort after listing the apartment candidates to move-in. *wink* I was the one making an effort for such list. Ooh Lord, please lead us. I know YOU are the best. I(we) hope to move as I can still move freely (before my tummy become bigger).

March 20, Spring 2011 Starts

It maybe late to talk about first day of Spring Season but at least it is still in the first week of spring. ;-) Why can't we talk about it, right? Okay, I was thinking of the rain. The first day of spring started with a rain. And there would be much more rain in the coming days. Spring season, a rainy season? Not before but this time as the weather forecast told. So, make sure you have rain boots and rain stuffs during this time. Or get ready for foods as it is hard to go grocery shopping and transferring it to your car and to the house as rain pours heavily.Well, not only foods (but it is basic) but also for appointments and other stuffs that you can do in advance before rain starting to fall down. You may not love rain when it comes to strolling outside during such times, just like me. Thanks goodness to TV and other technology that it is great to stay-at-home and still having fun, or at least we are entertained unlike just sleeping, eh? ;-) And so, happy spring!

Night Outdoor Lights

Aside from having a moonlight which only visible only sometime or perhaps once a month (of course depending on the calendar when the moon is visible on earth's darkness, or at night), lights from electricity (from water, which we get most of our lights) and from sun (solar lights) are only our source of light at night (excluding lights from our neighbor, hahaha, just kidding). That is just only shows that indoor and outdoor lighting are important, don't you think? Of course that is what you think. We can morning the night of whatever we like to do like going with friends, cooking, working and many more activities we can do when there is light. We won't be scared of the dark anymore while we are outside, on our way to our home or anywhere we like because of the many lights (speaking of darkness).

(images is from CSN Stores, I was given the right to use those. Thanks to Sean)

As for me, choosing either from electricity lighting or solar, I would go for solar. Though it needs some bucks higher than having bulb or the material which constitutes it than the other, but it is worthy as it only requires sunlight to charge in to do its work at night. What about you, what do you think? Having such outdoor lights at home is helpful and you know why. So it is great to invest in quality one or what we can afford to as long as it is present in the place(s) it should be.

4 Bedrooms for the Price of 4-Wheels, in USA?

I am just more than three years in USA and haven't been exposed to houses price range. All I know is that different states and places in United States of A differs each other. It is sure possible that price range of houses in Los Angeles are three or four times (or maybe more than) in South Dakota. Sometimes I could say maybe it is based on snowy areas or not, but it is a big NO! And my business degree took its effect. Surely, it is considered from how productive or depending on its income, or its remoteness or such. When a city has more income than the other, then the city houses which has more income/productive are pricey than the latter.

Maybe most of you already saw the news in yahoo on Valentines Day about "4 Bedrooms for the price of 4 wheels" as its news title. I was so curious about it and indeed stunned on the aftermath of what I read. Well, I  knew those were houses who are in distressed sale as also proven on its report. It got more of my time reading it and where it is located. I so like the #10 which is located in Cheboygan, Michigan with  4 bedrooms, close to downtown and other more interesting info. Such home cost $34,500 which is compared to a 4 wheel 2010 Toyota Highlander Highbrid base 4x4. The other one I so like is in Detroit, Michigan (where my friend lives) which describes as great value in this well-maintained brick 5-bedroom home with great design appeal and many  more interesting info it has of $32,000 (from original list price of $28,000 of Aug.2010, it goes high huh! Yet, it is still interesting one) as compared to a 4 wheel 2011 GMC Acadia SL FWD. The third cool price is in Florence, Arizona with a 4 spacious bedrooms and other interesting info for a price of $34,900 (from $148,900 listing price last June 2010 {a very huge drop, very cool!}) which is compared to a 4 wheel 2011 Hyundain Genesis (MSRP listing price of $33,000-43,000). The other fourth one I like is in Baytown, Texas which has 4 bedrooms for the price of $49,900 which is compared to a 4 wheel 2011 BMW 3 Series Coupe.

There are still others (and even so lower of this amount I read before, interesting huh!) which you might be interested from this news. Now it's your turn, which one do you like most from such list of Yahoo?

Tomorrow Is a Busy Day

For me. I am still thinking of how to finish the 19 chapters to read (long pages each) for my Computer Repair class. That is one thing I would be busied tomorrow aside from I will have my first ob-gyn appointment at 9 a.m. I am happy though, thinking I can talk with her about my baby. :-) Excited, eh? Ha! I am thinking of having an ultrasound for how many weeks, well, it's some kind of standard operating procedure (SOP) anyway and I could never be happier then. :-) On the other hand, am still thinking of my lessons for Saturday. The last meeting we had primary disassembling, meaning, just for practice. This Saturday is a serious matter. So I need to be serious on my lessons and name every parts inside the computer. Ooh well. It is what I wanted at first anyway. But seems I am running out of time. It has been suggested, we have to finish two chapters every meeting but this hands-on complicates huh! I hope only this first time. Well, it needs reading and familiarizing in order to get the accurate name. Ooh well. The other thing on my mind which I have to accomplish tomorrow is the folding of clothes which I washed the other day. I have to do it, one at a time. I don't have to stress myself or my baby-in-my-tummy will be in trouble. :( Good luck to me then. Whew!

Hardwood Flooring

Floors are important part of our home, even in office, store and any other areas which has involves floor on it. Today's "in" thing are hardwood floor or tiles of different styles, carpeted floors are also fashion. Which one do you have? Which is more convenient to you and your family? Which is economical and guaranteed convenience for your love ones at home? Whichever it is, there's nothing can beat our own hard work puts unto it like doing or hiring someone to Laminate hardwood flooring for us. It requires budget, if no hard work involve, then budget cannot be attained. It requires ability to save for it. Now let us talk about hardwood floor. What do you like about it? Or how do  you like it? For me, one thing I like about hardwood flooring is that it is pretty neat when it comes to its ambiance and cool in general. It beats the heat of the sun unlike having a plain concrete ones which it easily become hotter, talking about summer time, that is. Also, it is more of native wood-y style which refreshes everyone at home. Don't you think? It is also safer for kids when playing around at home unlike the concrete style.

Reminiscing

Some time of two years ago, DH and I went to a home of my friend near at the airport here in Los Angeles County. Her hubby was not there but I asked if it was okay with her partner and she said yes. Then more than 30 minutes came, we arrived. Then went inside as we were received. We talked a bit then a little while we went unto their billiard pool room at the same time her hubby's home office. As going there, we passed-by at their mini-garden and DH got fascinated with their fountain. He like fountains as he said he had fountain before in his home (together with her parents, he sold it as he transferred working at the same time living in Jamaica). He reminisced the beauty of it and currently I am also reminiscing what he thinks that day. Indeed, it is great to have a fountain even if only just small one.

What about you, do you like to have fountain in your home or in your surroundings?

What is Your Television Looks Like?

There are different brands of television, style and even color. What is most significant element of differences nowadays is its style. I mean if it is flat screen ,or the classic style which the latter is bulgy at its back. Now, which of which is yours? We know it or not, what is hot today is LCD TV, don't you think? I guess you know it already and it is very much possible that you have one or two, or maybe three of it in your house. We have ours one and also has the bulgy-type one which no problem with its connection. Only that only few cable channels can be seen unlike on our main TV on our bedroom. I think because it does not have DVR or maybe because it is not a LCD? Whatever it is, enjoy the entertainment it brings! Happy viewing! ;-)

Glass Tile

Just thinking of how technology rises nowadays. Before folks do not have any choices, now we even have different textures and colors of glass mosaic tiles. And even it comprises of stone and glass, or glass and stainless steel. Well for sure the latter is great, glass and stainless steel. Hemm.. this is one perk of manufacturing as part of technology, don't you think? So it is either such we like to put it in our bathroom, kitchen, swimming pool and any other areas we do not like water to absorb since glass is great with it. I thought it is pretty cool. What do you think?
