How to Shine During a Job Interview

When personnel directors were asked what they look for in those they interview, they offered this advice:
Look your best. A suit or dress makes the best impression for girls, a suit or dress pants and dress shirt for guys. You don’t have to go overboard, though, especially if you’re applying for a job where you would wear slightly dirty clothes every day.
  1.  Do your homework before the interview. Here’s the assignment: Know the type of job you’re applying for, why you want to work for this particular company, and what you think you have to offer the company. This information will help you respond to the interviewer’s questions.
  2. Be neat and clean. Avoid extremes of fashion for this occasion.
  3.  Be on time.
  4.  Be yourself. Sincerity will impress an interviewer more than flash or pretense.
  5.  Present a clean, attractive biodata.
  6.  Be polite and professional. You would not act arrogant or loud, would you? Of course not.
  7.  Listen before you speak. Listening shows respect and willingness to learn.
  8.  Think before you speak. And answer only the questions asked you.
  9.  Have an upbeat attitude. Don’t gossip, criticize, or complain.
  10.  Thank the interviewer.

What Do You Mean, Job Security?

Does the world of the part-time job still seem filled with slave-driving bosses, crazy hours, low pay, and crummy conditions? Okay, you would probably encounter one or more of these no matter where you work.

Trying to put up with it all becomes a little easier if you can get some perspective. One friend of mine told me, “In a part-time job you are paid according to how easy you are to replace, not necessarily for how hard the work is.” In other words, waitresses and busboys -- who are easy to replace and make a lot less than, say a library attendant. Sure a busboy probably works harder. But workers qualified for library work are few and far between. Their boss wants to hang on to them, so they get paid more.

I have a piece of advice to you, “Don’t take it seriously.” Suppose the boss yells at you for making a mistake on the job. Instead of getting angry or holding your resentment inside, give yourself a break. Mistakes happen. If it was your fault, admit it and determine to do better next time. Learning not take your job too seriously also puts your work in proper perspective.

Ways to Make Extra Money

Photography is a lucrative part-time business because your job essentially is finished when the coverage or shoot is over. A transaction with one client can be over in one day and you can move on to another client and another shoot. Obviously, full-time photographers usually have more equipment such as two or more cameras, extra stand-alone lights, digital cameras and laptops. If you are interested on this kind of business, photographic equipment and knowledge of picture taking is all what you need to start.

Customers for photography vary, and may include anybody who hosts a birthday party, wedding, baptismal, bingo social and other special events or occasions. The only trick is to make them look good. You may also make money contributing pictures to magazines and newspapers. The best way to hook clients is to impress them with your work. If the clients love your work, he or she will refer your work to his/her friends and family.

Career Planning

Teachers and parents encourage students to improve their study habits because they mean well to the future. Parents sometimes make choices for their children. This can turn out all right, but often it causes misery since the individual is not doing what he or she wants but rather what mom and dad wants. Parents must give guidance but they also need to listen to their children. While they need to help them explore possibilities, they should not dictate them. The young person has some idea of what he is capable of doing and must be a part of the decision-making process. When we set out to choose a career it can be very challenging and difficult. It can also be exciting because this process will change your entire life.

Now, you have chosen your career, what’s next? Try to be the best in the career position you have chosen. Your motto should be “Only the best is good enough.”

Car Repairs

Unless you are a mechanic, taking your car in to be serviced and repaired can be scary. A lot of people worry that an auto repair shop will rip them off. That is why it is important to find a mechanic who knows what he is doing and treats you fairly. My husband has been using the same auto repair shop to be able to get a discount, and besides my husband likes the work of the mechanic that is why when our car has a problem, he will not go to anywhere.

Many independent shops specialize in fixing certain brands of cars. Normally, you get to talk directly with the mechanic who’ll be doing the work on your car.  That’s much better than the system at a typical dealership, where you talk to a service writer who then has to relay to the mechanic your comments about what’s wrong with your car. You probably pay more at one of these independent specialty shops than at a dealer, but with car repair price isn’t as important as finding someone who is honest and knowledgeable.

Computer Repair Works

It is to become a computer repair-person if you like computers and know how they work. What will you need to start? The first thing you need is knowledge. Enroll in schools which offer computer repair works. Once you learn the trade, you will also get to learn what tools to buy for repairs. Good bargains are always available in hardware stores, some computer shops either online or at the store near to your place. When everything is ready, who will be your customers be? This is actually the good part, because computers are becoming ubiquitous. It is an excellent idea to start with friends, relatives, and neighbors. Distributing flyers in your neighborhood will help you much. You probably would ask, “How much should I charge?”, and then I guess it is not bad if you charge it 10 to 20 percent lower than those charged by the regular repair shops in the beginning. Increase your rates once you have made a name for yourself.

Saving for the Future

Nobody knows what tomorrow holds so the best that we can do now is to be prepared for it. I’m sure everybody would agree with me that the only way to prepare for that unknown future is to save. What “saving” means can be relative to different people. It may mean putting money in the bank, investing in a business or in a cooperatives. Our hard-earned money should also be put in a place where we know can assure us of its safety. This might just be one of those best places.

What do you think guys, do you agree?

Hard to Find a Job?

During my college day I was so excited for my graduation because after that I am finally a degree holder
and I would be an independent person. And to be an independent I must find a job to sustain all my
needs. I thought to find a job was so easy,  but then I realized that is so hard to find a job because
we are not just hundreds of unemployed who seek to find a job but there are thousands of people and
fresh graduates from different places who are looking for a job offer of different companies, so we
contending ourselves just to be hired in a company by giving the best that we can in answering the
qualifying exams and interviews. That just meant, high demands but the supply resource of work is low. Alright, sometimes I felt angry and regret because most companies hired those people who already had experience and because of that I came up with my question howcould I gain experience if most of the companies only hire those who have an experience?

Does it make sense? Finding a job is just like guessing the lucky number in the lottery, where in you are just waiting your luck to win that game. Hemm.. reminiscing me (the time of my first applied jobs)? I am just also pointing-out that it could be more than now since there are more people now, huh? Try your luck, you maybe is in-demand because of your ability. Try to get a job even just to have an experience, that also means even if it pays only little than you thought. Makes sense? Have a great job hunting! Sell your skill good! :-)

Unemployment

Unemployment is everywhere. You may think it is just fine if most of the people are employed and just only few are not, which I think such idea is right. I mean, you know, unemployment is inevitable. And not all people are capable of the job being offered in the market. While it is always great to know everything, but you cannot deny that only few are flexible on the job demand. Hence, it is great to always be on look-out of the future, or if being in school to prepare for such, then it must has to be done.

Good luck and I hope you're not one of those people who are unemployed unless if you're husband or breadwinner is doing great on his salary, or he can support you or your child more than enough. :-)
